Programme Kick-off

The Aman Academy

A residential academy that trains leaders the way we train them to host a guest.

The one guiding principle
“We treat every participant the way we expect them to treat a guest.”
Everything in this deck follows from that line
What the Academy is

One place. Leaders come, learn, and go back accountable.

01
Residential

A dedicated facility in Phuket. Roughly 36 rooms, up to about 60 participants at a time. They live it, they do not commute to it.

02
Earned

A place is a privilege, not a default. Nominated, selected, and expected to deliver on return.

03
Run all year

A calendar of five-day programmes by discipline, built around each property's peak periods.

How it works — the three roles

Nobody carries it alone.

The Host

The Academy head runs the house. Welcomes the room, sets the tone, manages the facility, then hands the floor to the experts. A host, not a lecturer.

The Experts

Subject-matter leaders from corporate and the best properties deliver the content. One person can never own every discipline, and is not asked to.

Train the Trainer

The thread that makes it stick. Participants leave able to teach it on. This is Dan's platform.

The five-day shape

A frame everyone shares.

Day 1
Arrive & frame

Host welcome, the cohort meets, the week is set.

Day 2
Standards · LQA

LQA runs the assessed standards, condensed to the discipline.

Day 3
Standards · LQA

Second LQA day. Behavioural and brand standards embedded.

Day 4
Theme & craft

The chosen format: technical, innovation, or exchange.

Day 5
Apply & commit

An AI thinking session, team-building, and what they take home.

Two of the five days are set aside for LQA. The rest is shaped by the discipline and a light AI immersion runs across the week.

The calendar — and the blind spot

About forty usable weeks. Then a question.

Usable teaching week Property peak — blacked out

Map every property's peak periods, and the productive window is roughly forty weeks. The facility sits idle the rest of the year. What fills it, and what revenue does it earn, is a decision worth taking now.

Selection & prestige

A place they are proud to have won.

Earned, not assigned

Twelve months served, a clean record, a leader or a genuine high-potential. A nomination the manager has to argue for.

Given an identity

A named cohort, a certificate, a LinkedIn moment. A signal to owners and future talent that Aman invests in its people.

High care and high expectation. They are hosted well, and held to account for what they carry home.

The first deliverable

The briefing pack that goes out.

A
The template

One standardised brief every discipline completes. Small, medium, or full — pre-agreed, not reinvented per property.

B
The F&B example

A fully populated five-day F&B programme, good enough for the other functions to copy the shape.

C
The value case

A short "what's in it for you" so the ask lands as an invitation, not a chore.

The runway

Out by end of August. Done by end of October.

By 31 Aug
Briefing pack issued to every SME — the academy, the calendar, the F&B example, the type of person to send.
Sep – Oct
Disciplines build their content. Two months, with DH keeping the stage-gates.
By 31 Oct
Everything due. Formats chosen, packs complete, calendar locked.

We run it as light-touch checkpoints, not a heavy lift — short committee catch-ups that keep it off the last three days.

What happens next

Three moves to start.

1
Engage F&B

As soon as Dan is back, we build the worked example with the F&B team.

2
Agree the frame

Sign off the shape, the roles, and the formats on offer.

3
We keep the pace

DH project-manages the stage-gates so October lands calm.

The standard we hold
“Expect more. Care more.”
